How brave are you?

Have you ever been brave enough to try some new experiences? Have you ever sat down and put together a "bucket list"? What kind of activities might be on that list? How about skydiving? Have you ever thought of doing something so daring? The best part was doing it with friends - it is an experience you won't soon forget.

I got the opportunity to Skydive while on a cruise vacation in Hawaii. Seeing some of the islands that make up Hawaii was so beautiful. Skydiving with Skydive Hawaii was a great way to see this beautiful place from way up high.

Sign of Skydive Hawaii

To jump, you must fill out and sign waivers and a few safety/ training videos to watch so that you are aware of the entire process from start to finish. Then we had options to have video footage of the jump as well as photographs. These are added costs but are very worth being able to look back and be proud of my achievement.

When you are getting closer to the jump time, you need to be fitted for your harness. The staff at Skydive Hawaii needs the exact weight and height to fit the proper harness required for you. So no lying because of the cute instructor. As well during the lessons, you are paired up with your tandem jump. They will go through signals and what it means and what you should do if you see the signal show to you.

You need to know a few things: you need to wear comfy shoes- no flip-flops. They must stay on your feet- and not blow off your feet. That would be embarrassing and dangerous. You also need a pair of goggles, which thankfully they did provide for us. These are a necessity if you want to open your eyes and enjoy the freefall and then coasting down.

Skydive Hawaii Airplane

We jumped at 14,000 feet, and Hawaii was amazing from this height. The ocean never looked so beautiful, and from that height, you can see the more shallow and deep spots. I think the total time you are down is about 5-7 minutes. What a rush! It is scary, to be honest. Think about it jumping out of an airplane at 14000 feet with another human strapped to your back. Oh, and you appear that you are over the ocean. It was amazing to see things from that far up in the sky.

Watch this video and decide if you could do this? It was a bucket list item for me since I was a young child. I can remember there used to be a place where we would drive by to visit my Grandparents in Simcoe, Ontario. So, for me, I watched people as we drove by and as an adult, I could fulfill my dream.

Tip!

You are best to book reservations in advance as you would then be scheduled and could expect to be roughly 2 hours. Whereas if you are a walk-up, you could be waiting quite a while to get a chance to skydive.

Some places you visit while travelling stay with you long after you leave. Not because they are polished or modern, but because they carry generations of skill, patience, and pride in every detail. This traditional oxcart workshop in Sarchí, Costa Rica, is one of those places. Sarchí is widely recognized as the birthplace of Costa Rica’s iconic painted oxcarts. Originally built to transport coffee beans from the Central Valley to the coast, these carts became rolling works of art. Over time, they evolved into one of the most recognizable symbols of Costa Rican identity. Walking into this workshop feels less like entering a museum and more like stepping into a living chapter of the country’s history.

Over the course of four unforgettable safaris through Kruger National Park, we had the rare opportunity to witness something extraordinary. Elephants simply being elephants. Wild, free, and deeply connected to one another. We stayed at the remarkable Shalati The Train on a Bridge, a luxury lodge uniquely perched over the Sabie River. From our elevated view, we watched herds pass beneath us. Calves stayed close to their mothers while elders stood watch, scanning the horizon with quiet authority. It was here, between early morning game drives and golden hour sightings, that the idea for this short film first took shape. In our new video, Giants of Kruger A Journey with Elephants, we bring together moments captured across all four trips. These are intimate glimpses into the daily lives of these remarkable animals. You will see mothers carefully guiding newborns across dry riverbeds. Young elephants learning to use their trunks through play and trial. Families caring for one another in ways that feel deeply familiar. And the commanding presence of matriarchs leading the herd with calm confidence. What stayed with us most was the elephants’ sense of community. In their world, a calf is never raised alone. Aunties, cousins, and older siblings all play a role in nurturing and protection. Their family structure is built on patience, empathy, and instinctive support. Our time in Kruger reminded us of the power of connection. Between animals. Between people. And between the wild places we all have a responsibility to protect. 📽️ Watch the full video now on YouTube: Giants of Kruger: A Journey with Elephants Whether you are a wildlife lover, dreaming of an African safari, or simply in need of a few quiet minutes in nature, we hope this story stays with you as it has stayed with us.
